About Pulbrook and Gould

The front of Pulbrook and Gould's shop
Pulbrook & Gould, renowned florists in London’s Sloane Street for over 50 years, first burst upon an amazed and admiring clientele with riotous, breathtaking arrangements mixing flowers, foliage, berries and fruits from English gardens with wild ones from the countryside.
Today, the philosophy that developed in those early days is clear – wild cowparsley can be as important as a stem of lilies; a branch of blackberries might counterpoint rare, dark roses; a bunch of mixed green herbs will vie with a dozen roses.
The partnership of Lady Pulbrook and Rosamund Gould was founded in 1956.
Lady Pulbrook, after the death of her husband, naturally turned to her love of gardens and flowers. She needed something to occupy her and went into partnership with her friend, trained florist Rosamund Gould. Lady Pulbrook’s instinctive and iconic approach together with Rosamund Gould’s technical know-how proved a winner. They opened their shop and the trend-setters flocked to them.
H R H Princess Alexandra and the Duchess of Kent both chose Pulbrook & Gould to arrange memorable flowers at their weddings. York Cathedral, filled with the white rose of York to surround the beautiful Yorkshire girl marrying the Duke of Kent, was an inspired and historic idea that, in its simplicity, set high standards.
As well as members of the Royal Family, they number among their illustrious list of customers aristocrats, stars from throughout the world of entertaining, designers, artists, and the great hostesses of the day, some of Britain’s major institutions and businesses and a great many discerning private people whose day is enriched by an arrangement from Pulbrook & Gould.
In 1976 Rosamund Gould retired, leaving Lady Pulbrook to grow the business with her sister-in-law, Sonja Waites.
During the late 80’s, it was decided that more suitable premises should be found, preferably under one roof. In September 1990 the company moved to Liscartan House, 127 Sloane Street, London SW1.
The shop was built and designed specially for their needs, with extra space , enabling the firm to develop further. High standards and a personal touch, often difficult in a fast-changing world, are their hallmark. The shop, a large elegant conservatory, retains its charm; it is filled with exquisite and unusual flowers and foliage, a large variety of smart containers and special high quality faux flowers. Today we have many English and international clients many of whom travel and whose styles and tastes vary enormously from contemporary to classic.
